SWE South Puget Sound Section Chartered

SPS has chartered! The charter was approved by the SWE Board of Directors August 4, 2006.

We have been transferring to a new website over the past few months.

The section includes all SWE members with zip codes beginning with 983, 984, and 985; as well as including all of the following counties: Clallam, Mason, Kitsap, Jefferson, Thurston, Lewis, Pacific and Grays Harbor. Southwest Pierce County will be included: McChord Air Force Base, Gig Harbor, Lakewood, Dupont, Puyallup, Fort Lewis and parts of Tacoma.

We have meetings and events rotating between Olympia, Bremerton, and Tacoma. Quarterly newsletters and email announcements will keep members up to date.

Pacific Northwest Section will be our partner section.  Joint events happen throughout the year.  Watch the Calendars for PNW headers to signify PNW events from our SPS events.

Special thank you to Kathy & Wes Waddell and PrincessCrafts.com for the design and building of our new SWE-SPS.org Website.

Region J had a good start in FY08.

All sections have been having great activities this year, and now the transition to new officers is upon us once again.

The region conducted an orientation specifically for understanding reporting requirements, with all sections participating in this orientation. As a result, there is cognizance across the region for implementing succession planning and updating the section bylaws.

All sections have officers elected or in the process of election, so we will have a full region council for the first time in several years.

Region conferences planning has started and we are using the lessons learned from the past conferences; the theme this year is environmental challenges.  We are already receiving inquiries from companies in the region interested in participating!

The sections are planning outreach, professional development, and cultural activities through the year, repeating successful program and developing new events - so get ready for the '08/'09 year.
